The purpose of the BCDFC is to identify local leading
problems related to substance abuse and increase awareness and
cooperation through a comprehensive collaborative plan which
educates the community in order to increase protective factors
among youth and prevent usage in Bryan County over time.
The mission of the coalition is to be a community alliance
dedicated to implementing comprehensive strategies within a
strategic prevention framework to prevent and reduce substance
abuse among area youth and promote positive long-term community
change.
The goals of the coalition are to (1) strengthen the
collaboration among the community alliances and to (2) implement
strategies in order to reduce substance abuse.
To achieve these goals, BCDFC will increase awareness of youth,
parents and community regarding risk and liability, will work to
increase the age of onset for substance use by sustaining and
expanding youth education programs, decrease ease of access to
substances through partnerships with law enforcement and elected
officials. Additionally, we will modify public policies to
positively recognize those who support unification of a drug
free community and advocate for increase in youth and adult
treatment options in Bryan County.
